Small Seed for 2-3-15

Open Your Ears To Hear.

“Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts…” Hebrews 3:7 (NIV)

What jumps out to me today is “if you will hear His voice”. This implies God is speaking. Often, we wonder why God isn’t talking to us. We think He is silent, but it’s not Him. It’s us. We need to open our spiritual ears and seek to hear.

"Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand…” Revelation 3:22

"Then [Jesus] said, "Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand." Mark 4:9

I’m still working on my hearing, but a couple of things have helped me.

1.    Ask God for help.
A few years back a lovely woman told me to  start asking the Holy Spirit to help me understand Scripture, so I pray now before I open the Bible.

“Holy Spirit, help me understand the Word your have for me today. Help me apply it to my life.”

2.    Draw near to God.
I sing this song that I made up before I pray:

Holy Father, Holy Spirit
Son of God and Prince of Peace.
Come unto me, This I ask you.
Come and be near to me.

How do you open your ears to hear?

Small Seed for 2-2-15

He Holds My Hand.

“For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." Isaiah 41:13 (NIV)

What an image! Our Holy God tells us He will hold our hand through tough times. We don’t have to do it alone. Our Father is with us, working on our behalf, helping us.

God tells us so much about himself in Scripture. This one reminds us:
1.    He is God, capable of handling anything.
2.    He is our Father, holding our hand. He is beside us through thick and thin.
3.    He is helping us. He wants good for us.

A friend of mine is having a stressful time and this is the verse God put before me to give to her. Maybe it is one for you too?

How have you felt God holding your hand and helping you?

Small Seed for 2-5-15

Watch To See What God Will Say.

“I will stand my watch
And set myself on the rampart,
And watch to see what He will say to me,
And what I will answer when I am corrected.” Hebrews 12:1 (NKJV)

Read this part again -- “Watch to see what He will say”.

It doesn’t say “Wait to hear what He will say”. It says “watch to see”. There is so much action in this verse! Watching. Waiting. Anticipating. God is going to speak. He is going to do something. What will it be? When will it happen?

What are you praying? Whatever it is, believe God can do it and then wait and watch for Him to speak it into being.

Share a time when you “saw” what God said to you?
