This song is for Shelby, age 10, and her family. They will soon be taking her off life support.
In Your Hands Lyrics by Dawn M. Hamsher
As I walk in darkened places,
As I deal with
pain so large,
I will lay my
fears before you
Knowing that
you are in charge.
Your plans are
hidden from us.
We don't know
what's in store,
But your glory
shines in all this
Even through a
closed door.
CHORUS
Lord, I call on you. Do you hear me?
Lord, I call on you. Come surround me.
In your hands, I'm seeking refuge from a world that is so
cold.
Wrap me in your warm embrace; rest me on your strong hold.
Lord, we call on you. Do you hear us?
Lord, we call on you. Come surround us.
In your hands, We're seeking refuge from a world that is so
cold.
Wrap us in your warm embrace; rest us on your strong hold.
I struggle for
understanding.
Why do bad
things come our way?
Give me peace
in every moment,
Trusting you
for each new day
We cry out to
you for healing,
Praying far
into the night.
No matter what
the outcome,
Hold us close
and be our light.
CHORUS
I feel your
hands upon me,
Giving strength
when I have none;
Lifting up my
weary shoulders
Through all
that life has done.
What a blessing
you are to us.
For in you, we
can confide.
We never have
to be alone.
You are always
by our side.
CHORUS
Beautiful poem! I pray that God's strength and truth and warmth surrounds and fill them in this most difficult time, and that His grace will continue to grow and spread among the many tears that fall, for His glory and their utmost good!
ReplyDeletePetra,
DeleteIt was mistakenly reported on facebook that Shelby had died, so my original opening stated as such. She is still alive and later this week will be taken off life support.
Oh my word, I don't know the Shelby story, as I've just found your blog, but I am so sad to read a life is ending. I, too, pray for this family. What beautiful words you have written, Dawn, and what a beautiful gift.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mare. On April 1, Shelby had a severe asthma attack and went without oxygen for 15+ minutes. There is brain damage and they do not expect her to live. Her family attends our church. Thank you for your prayers.
DeleteThat is great Dawn :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful song and a fitting tribute. Hope it gives the family some solace in their dark hour.
