A to Z Devotion: N is for Nascent

"Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches." Matthew 13:32

Nascent - (adj) just coming into existence and beginning to display signs of future potential.

This Scripture verse and vocabulary word sum up my early faith. In high school and as a young adult, I believed in Jesus, but my faith was so tiny, like a mustard seed. It was resting in good soil, waiting for God to water and nurture it at the appropriate time. I admit that I was sometimes a stubborn plant, refusing to grow, but I always turned back to the light.

Thank you, Father for your tender gardening care of me. Amen.

If you could describe your faith by using something found in nature (plant, animal, mineral, etc.), what would it by and why?

  1. It’s officially the second half of A to Z. Time to catch that second wind, rest up on Sunday, then it’s that mad dash toward the finish line!
