A to Z Devotion: V is for Voice

"Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son..." Hebrews 1:1-2 (ESV)

How do you know for sure that you are hearing God's voice?

That is a question I was having last summer. I thought I was hearing God's voice and that He was revealing things to me, but a friend wanted to know how I knew for sure. Then, God put "Hearing His Voice" by Chris Tiegreen in my path. The devotional shared that we often confuse the still small voice of God with our own thoughts. It went on to say, that as we grow closer in our relationship to God, our thoughts become one with God's, so that it doesn't matter if you know for sure whose voice is whose.

It makes sense to me, that if the Holy Spirit is in me, that as I grow in my faith, His voice will intertwine with mine. In addition, I know that I should always test what I hear with what I read in the Bible to make sure that it is God speaking, for He speaks only truth, light, and life.

Do you hear God's voice? When and where to you hear it the strongest?

  1. Sounds like a great devotional. I'm going to look it up; would be beneficial for our whole family. Sometimes it's difficult to know if it's God's voice you're hearing
