I will be posting one poem each day of Poetry Schmoetry (July 11-14).
Snow on the Tombstones
by Dawn M. HamsherSnow on the TombstonesBlanket of whiteCemetery calmIn early dawn light
Stones all snow-toppedStand up by the pinesheavy with powderthat weighs down their sides
All of the headstonesPlaced in straight rowsAre colors of graysThat slumber and doze
I couldn't stop lookingSo lovely a sceneA feeling of peaceof resting serene
I see the scene perfectly--and in reality many winter mornings. It really is a peaceful setting. Lovely, Dawn!

Oh, this is nice. I like how the imagery of the cemetery was unexpected - serene, peaceful...
ReplyDeletePam -- Thank you! You can see a sight every winter where you live. :0)
ReplyDeleteAmy -- I appreciate that so much.
Tara -- Me too! I was so glad to have noticed the graveyard that day (my husband drove me to work b/c of the snow) and I caught sight of its beauty.
Francine -- Thank you for the kind words.
Kim -- I know...you expect something dismal when you refer to a graveyard, but this was so lovely a scene!
Yes, I could see this scene too. Very peaceful.
