Poetry Schmoetry -- Snow on the Tombstones

I will be posting one poem each day of Poetry Schmoetry (July 11-14).

Snow on the Tombstones
by Dawn M. Hamsher

Snow on the Tombstones
Blanket of white
Cemetery calm
In early dawn light

Stones all snow-topped
Stand up by the pines
heavy with powder
that weighs down their sides

All of the headstones
Placed in straight rows
Are colors of grays
That slumber and doze

I couldn't stop looking
So lovely a scene
A feeling of peace
of resting serene

  6. Pam -- Thank you! You can see a sight every winter where you live. :0)

Amy -- I appreciate that so much.

Tara -- Me too! I was so glad to have noticed the graveyard that day (my husband drove me to work b/c of the snow) and I caught sight of its beauty.

Francine -- Thank you for the kind words.

Kim -- I know...you expect something dismal when you refer to a graveyard, but this was so lovely a scene!

  13. Beautiful stuff - even down to the layout of the poem which suggests a gravestone to my eyes. I love your choice of words.

  18. The historian in me LOVES cemeteries. I think I visit a couple cemeteries on every trip we take. My husband thinks I'm weird.
The poems is beautiful. Snow makes things peaceful doesn't it?
