Martin Luther King Jr. Lived Out The Word.
"Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause." Isaiah 1:17
"Thus says the Lord: Do justice and
righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has
been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the resident alien, the
fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place." Jeremiah 22:3
Ask.com says this about Martin Luther King Jr.:
"He was an
African-American Baptist minister and social activist from Georgia,
stood for peace, equality and justice, especially for African-Americans
and the socially disadvantaged. He played an integral role in
the American civil rights movement and is considered to be the driving
force that brought about such legislation as the Civil Rights Act of
1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965."
Don't let this day be just a day off work. Commit to doing something that would please God. Here are some questions to ponder and then act on.
Can
you imagine stepping out in faith like Martin Luther King Jr. did? What
do you believe in? Would you be willing to make a needed change like
him? What's on your heart? What do you need to step out on?
Hello Dawn.
ReplyDeleteMartin Luther King is not someone who is talked about much in this country (South Africa) which is, I suppose, a bit unusual. In fact He isn't even mentioned on "IOL" today.
You are of course right, or should I rather say God is right. Care about others and God himself will care about you. There are of course limits to one's ability when the begging hand is extended all the time with hatred and accusations being leveled at those who are trying to obey this command. People in this country, although they claim to be "Suffering" are in a much better position than those say in Sierra Leon or Rwanda. Oh well, we do our best.
blessings from South Africa, Geoff.
Geoff, Yes, there will always be challenges to following Christ (to showing love to others), but the goal is to try, stepping out in faith, bit by bit. Thanks for sharing. Good to hear from you!
ReplyDeleteWhat incredible commitment and courage he demonstrated to the world. God set a fire in his heart, for sure.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan! Yes. What an example! I hope you are doing well...I need to stop by your blog and say hi.
