Attributes of Writers - B

Writers are a special breed. We have unique qualities that help us make music with our words. Those same qualities might also put us in the loony bin, but isn't it worth it?! So, pull up a chair, let's explore our "specialness" together through the A to Z Challenge. If we can understand our attributes as writers, we can be cured, right?                   Dawn (P.S. Thanks for stopping by. Writing is lonely and I need your company!)

  Writers are sometimes...

  Blocked -
unable to think of a darn thing to write

Don't you wish you could just use the Bat Phone for help with writer's block? When I'm blocked, I pray or go to the Bible for inspiration.

When you are "blocked", how do you get the creative juices flowing again?

  1. Love the picture, Dawn! LOL!
When I am blocked I look out the window. God will draw my attention to something I see there and speak a message to my heart.
    Loving your series, my friend!

  4. My kids. The day to day that goes by tend to be enough crazy to bring something new to mind. As long as I look through a different perspective. A 2 year old's eyes works!

    Great post!

    1. Ranch Mama, You are still in the little child phase. You have more issues that just writer’s block. ;0) You have time issues – finding time to write! But, don’t waste one precious moment with the kiddos...the grow up too too fast.

  7. Yes to the batphone. I started writing ideas in a notebook for future use, but sometimes even with a great idea, sitting in front of a screen trying to develop a story is painful.

Hope you're having fun with the A to Z Challenge! Here's mine for today: A Girl and her Diary

  11. Ha! The image is awesome! I have a ton of story starters, books, worksheets, and toolkits to help with writer's block. My problem is more procrastination as to being blocked.... and probably laziness :)

  12. I'm never blocked until I get to revisions and then I struggle! I don't know why I can edit professionally, but not my own work.

  13. Whenever I have writer's block, I look through my things and photos for inspiration. It also helps me to do a few minutes of free writing, where I write whatever comes to mind and can't stop writing until time is up.

  15. Thank god for the Bat Phone. seriously, where would we be without it? with three kids I'm never blocked, but there is that whole 'too much sharing' problem. a fine line. But my sons are 20 & 18 so, if they screw up it's fair game for mommy's writing. I'm much more thoughtful when it comes to the darling daughter, so far...

    1. Yeah, "too much sharing"...folks need to be careful about that. It's too easy with social media. Thanks for commenting!

  16. Love the picture - I wish I had a Bat phone or an easy fix for writer's block, but I don't. Usually some reading or watching a movie will inspire me again. :)
