Attributes of Writers - A

Writers are a special breed. We have unique qualities that help us make music with our words. Those same qualities might also put us in the loony bin, but isn't it worth it?! So, pull up a chair, let's explore our "specialness" together through the A to Z Challenge. If we can understand our attributes as writers, we can be cured, right?                   Dawn (P.S. We've all read books that we just couldn't put down. This photo shows one of my favs (Bloody Jack by L. A. Meyer).

    I've just finished a book that arrested my attention: BuddaDa by Anne Donovan. It was an absolute cracker of a book. Excellent theme, Dawn, looking forward to reading the rest :)

    Too many to list as well, but Flowers From The Storm by Laura Kinsale comes to mind, as does the Mckenzie Series by Linda Howard.

    I love Lee Child's Jack Reacher books, but pretty much anything I start reading and enjoy has to be finished before I can do anything else.

    Fellow A-Z challenger stopping by to say hello. Let's see, the last book I read and could not put down had to be Henry Franks by Peter Salomon. I have not read Bloody jack yet, but it is on my TBR list!

    I love books I just can't put down! The last one I read like that was "From the Ashes" by Jessica McKendry - I hated having to go to bed! :)

    Pride & Prejudice was a real page turner for me. Finished it in something like 9 hours :P

    I'm finally doing A-Z. It's about time :)

      Hi Samantha, yeah for doing the A to Z! Hope all is going well with you. I’ve never read Pride & Prejudice, but it is my favorite movie of all time (the one with Colin Firth). :0)

    That really is the trick, isn't it? Finding the right balance between giving the reader enough to go on and boring them to death.

    Fortunately, most readers seem to feel obligated to finish books even if they are not thrilled with them.

    I was a big fan of Robert B. Parker. Certainly not high-brow literature by any means, but his sparse prose style and witty dialogue always made his books an easy and enjoyable read.

      LC, Yes you are right. For me, it’s not that I feel obligated to finish a mediocre book, it’s the hope that the book will get better. It usually doesn’t and then I think of all the time I’ve wasted. Thanks for your comment!

    so true! though i sometimes continue reading a book even if i no longer find it arresting. :) i just want to know how it ended. lol.
