Attributes of Writers - D

Writers are a special breed. We have unique qualities that help us make music with our words. Those same qualities might also put us in the loony bin, but isn't it worth it?! So, pull up a chair, let's explore our "specialness" together through the A to Z Challenge. If we can understand our attributes as writers, we can be cured, right?                   Dawn (P.S. Thanks for stopping by. Writing is lonely and I need your company!)

Writers...

Dilly-
DallY -

prone to waste time, dawdle, or be indecisive.

* Oh, I should write, but there is dog hair on the floor that needs vacuumed.
* What should I write? I should work on my book, but the blog needs a post. There is also  that Chicken Soup for the Soul story I wanted to write about. I can't decide!
*Ahh, Mudge, come here sweet puppy. I love you, baby...you are so cute!
*Something's missing. Coffee. I can't write without my coffee. Better go make some...

Just about any excuse will work for us dilly-dalliers, but each is as lame as the next. We need to stop it and W-R-I-T-E!

What is your dilly-dally specialty?

  2. Some people like to specialize, but I feel I excel at both the dilly and the dally.

  3. Thanks for visiting, and how fun to have found your blog!! I agree, nothing can be written without coffee nearby! I find, however, that my writing addiction is the distraction that keeps me from doing so many other (less fun!) things that need to be done, like paying the bills, cleaning the house, cooking the meals, etc. lol!!! Oh well! Happy blogging - this is our month to give in to the distraction full time! Enjoy!

    1. Elaine, Yeah...those darn bills and cleaning. If only we didn't have to do them.

  4. I'm loving your A to Z's and sure wish I had a bat phone.

As for dilly-dallying, on really bad days I make use of your dog or coffee excuses--even though I don't have pets or drink coffee!!

  5. Love your post and your pictures. I especially like excuse no. 2. Now that I've committed to writing every week, I find myself dilly-dallying over what to work on and in the meantime wasting time on the Internet while looking for "inspiration."

    1. Elaine, Thank you! I know what you mean about internet. I waste time there too and before I know it two hours have passed!

    Can you read my mind?

  7. I do all of those - but not the bit about Chicken Soup. :)

  8. I need to take a break and laugh! Hahaha! Well, all the above doesn't apply to Betty but for those of you that it does - hope you get started and complete it so we can all read it!

Thanks for the humor! Betty liked!

    Enjoy the challenge!

They needed to be done anyway, but still.

  11. I am such a dilly-dally-er. Am also smiling since I haven't heard that word since I was a child. My mom used to say it.

    1. Karen, I'm glad I made you smile. Dilly-Dally is so much better than procrastinator! Dilly-Dally sounds positive, while procrastinator sounds so negative. Thanks for stopping by!

  12. I'm guilty, too. I spend way too much time reading blogs and watching Netflix. :)

    Love your theme! Following. ☺

    1. Sorry. I wrote the "Following" out of habit. I already follow your blog. LOL

  13. Sadly mine is cleaning. Sometimes I will want to dilly-dally so much I'd rather scrub the bathroom and all the hard wood floors in the house. Productive, but not writing productive. ;)

  14. Twitter can be a big distraction for me. There's always somebody on posting something, and if it's writing-related it can feel semi-productive to check it out.
