Attributes of Writers - G

Writers are a special breed. We have unique qualities that help us make music with our words. Those same qualities might also put us in the loony bin, but isn't it worth it?! So, pull up a chair, let's explore our "specialness" together through the A to Z Challenge. If we can understand our attributes as writers, we can be cured, right?                   Dawn (P.S. Thanks for stopping by. Writing is lonely and I need your company!)

A writer is a...

Groper -

 for words, that is

Ahh, if I could only find the right word, then it'd be perfect.  OK, off to RhymeZone to look up synonyms. Instead of "search", I could use "research", "hunt", "look", "pursue", "chase", or "seek". So many word choices -- I love being a groper!

How do you find the right words?

  1. I sometimes can't find the right words in German, so I have to describe it until my mother gives me the right word...ah the joy of losing ones language.

  2. I hate it when I can't think of the right word. I sometimes sit there, getting more and more frustrated. Sometimes I ask my husband if he knows what word I'm thinking of (because if I don't myself, he might...) and sometimes I use the synonym tool on Word for inspiration.

  3. It's an annoying problem. I know what it means and the first letter. Even when I look it up in a thesaurus the word is never there. Usually because I've go the first letter wrong.

  5. What would I be without my synonym dictionary? Sometimes I describe my word and I'll come back to it later, when I know the right word. (I like your picture. So funny!

    1. Brianna, I was worried that maybe I shouldn't use it, but it was too funny not to.
