Attributes of Writers - S

Writers are a special breed. We have unique qualities that help us make music with our words. Those same qualities might also put us in the loony bin, but isn't it worth it?! So, pull up a chair, let's explore our "specialness" together through the A to Z Challenge. If we can understand our attributes as writers, we can be cured, right?                   Dawn (P.S. Thanks for stopping by. Writing is lonely and I need your company!)

A writer is...

Scatterbrained -
when your brain feels like a messy work table and you can't find a thing

Oh, the ideas are in there! If only I could find them. Does your brain have long corridors filled with half-written sheets of paper? Mine does. Ideas, To Do Lists, memories...if I don't write them down, I'll never remember them again. Why? Because I am a writer and I am scatterbrained. Nuff said.

Are you scatterbrained? What's something important that you forgot?

I had forgotten that I wrote two scenes of my book, only to write them again with the feeling of deja vu. Later, I found the original sections. Nothing like doing work twice! You gotta love a scatter-brain.

  1. I know, I'm scatterbrained. If I don't keep a list and follow it, I'm in trouble.

  2. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I definitely need my lists. Sometimes I wake up in the early hours of the morning with a brilliant story idea. I can never be bothered to get up and write it down so I go back to sleep, convinced I'll remember it when I wake up again. Do you think that ever happens?

  3. Oh yes, I am scatterbrained writer. If I don't make a daily list, I end up spending far too much time standing around going "Uh...what was I going to do again?"

And even when I do have a list, I sometimes still do that.

  4. Oh, goodness, yes.... Walked home up our road one day and had a Brilliant Plot Idea for my third book. Told my husband when I got in, but - did either of us think of writing it down? No. And can either of us remember what it was? No again!

  5. I'm scatterbrained enough to forget to use the little book right at my elbow. But sometimes I achieve more by saying "Nope! No more of this A to Z blog hopping... now for more of my WIP." Wish it worked all the time, though. I've now got enough on my A to Z posts to make a stnad alone book of Celtic/ Roman Britain but my WIP historical sequel has only progressed a little.

  6. Well right now it's hard to say whether I'm scatterbrained or it's pregnancy brain :)

  7. I collect notebooks :-) And write all my ideas in the notebooks. Idd, I'm a scatter-brained person.
